Webmail at mail.subgenius.vip needs no setup — sign in and it works. These settings are for using a real mail app instead: Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Outlook, K-9, your phone's built-in mail, anything.

Incoming mail (IMAP)

If your app prefers POP3, that is on port 995 with SSL/TLS. Use IMAP unless you have a reason not to — POP3 pulls mail off the server, so it will not match what you see in webmail.

Outgoing mail (SMTP)

  • Server: mail.subgenius.vip — the same name as incoming
  • Port: 465 with SSL/TLS, or 587 with STARTTLS. Either works; use whichever your app offers first
  • Authentication: required — same username and password as above

Some apps default to "no authentication" for outgoing mail. That will not work here. Outgoing always requires your username and password.

Before you can send

Sending is switched off on new accounts. Receiving works immediately, sending is enabled per account — ask in this board.

Until it is enabled, everything above will still set up correctly and receive mail normally. Only sending is refused. If your app reports an error the first time it tries to send, this is almost certainly why.

You can also only send as yourself. Setting a different From address than your own will be rejected.

If something does not work

"Username or password incorrect", but the password is right. You almost certainly entered just the name. The username is the whole address, you@subgenius.vip.

A certificate or security warning. Check the server name is exactly mail.subgenius.vip for both incoming and outgoing. Never accept or bypass a certificate warning on a mail server — if you get one with that name entered correctly, stop and post here instead.

Receiving is fine, sending fails. Sending rights, as above. Ask in this board.

The app cannot find the settings itself. Some apps try to guess and get it wrong. Look for "manual setup" or "configure manually" and enter the values above.
